Hey guys! Last year I shared this gorgeous DIY Floral Letters How To on the Tiny Prints Blog! Today I am excited to share the tutorial on my blog! I created these beautiful Floral Letters for my Mother’s Day Brunch. You could create these for; your Mom this Mother’s Day, a graduation party in numbers, your child’s room, someone’s initial as a gift. The possibilities are endless. I have seen DIY Floral Letters created in some difficult ways, and after trying a few, I came up with what I feel is the easiest method.
DIY FLORAL LETTERS SUPPLIES
- Cardboard Letters Size Of Choice (Found At Your Local Craft Store like Michaels)
- Xacto or Knife Of Choice
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Silk Flowers (TIP - get a few of the more expensive ones from your local craft store like Michaels using coupons or when they are on sale. Then get a bunch of “filler” flowers from your local Dollar Tree or 99 Cent Store).
- Spray Paint (If you want your letters to be a different color besides kraft paper brown)
STEP 1
With your knife and your first letter carefully insert the knife in the top of the letter. Be careful not to cut yourself as your tool of choice is sharp!
STEP 2
Carefully go along the seam of the letter until you have made it around the entire letter back to your original cut line.
STEP 3
Remove the top portion you cut and discard. The inside may be full of extra support cardboard. If it is simply take it out and discard.
STEP 4
If you want your letters to be a color then spray paint and let dry. Be sure to spray paint outside in a well ventilated area. I was mounting my letters to a backdrop so I did not need to worry about the back being pretty. If you plan to stand your letters on a surface and the back will be seen then spray paint your back as well. Once your letters are fully dry move on to the next step.
STEP 5
Take your silk flowers and remove all flowers from the stem. They pop right off! My daughter actually was able to do this part for me.
STEP 6
Arrange your flowers in your letters until you get the look you are wanting. Start with your larger “key” pieces, and then fill in with your smaller “filler” flowers. Once you like the look go back and remove them one at a time; adding hot glue to the bottom of your flower and insert back in the letter. Push firmly for a few seconds to let dry. Be careful not to burn yourself with the hot glue during this step. Repeat with all letters, number, or symbols until you are finished.
Now you have gorgeous DIY floral letters to decorate your Mothers Day Brunch or other special occasion.

Love it.
Hello Crystal!! Thanks so much! It is just a printed backdrop and then taped to foam board and the board is duct taped to the back of the dresser!!

Did you just glue the letters onto the backdrop?
Yes!! I used hot glue!
